Long-Cast Rig (Semi Barbed)

Westin Long-Cast Rig (Semi Barbed) Long-cast rig with gentle hook release
The Westin Long-Cast Rig Semi Barbed is a specialised deadbait rig for extreme casting distances, combining stable bait fixation with a slightly gentler hooking action. It is based on Westin’s proven Long-Cast concept and was developed for situations where pike standing far out need to be targeted and fished reliably.

Construction and material
The leader consists of 30 lb, 7-strand steel wire, which provides reliable protection against pike teeth and can also withstand the stresses of powerful long-distance casting. Discreet camouflage ferrules secure all connections and help to keep the rig as inconspicuous as possible in the water an advantage when fishing for cautious predators in heavily fished waters. The rig is equipped with two extra-strong, ultra-sharp treble hooks in a semi-barbed design. These hooks provide a secure hold during the fight, but are easier to release than classic full barbs, making it easier to handle the fish.

Long cast concept and bait attachment
The central element of the rig is the long, integrated loop attachment for the bait fish. It stabilises the bait during the cast and reliably prevents it from slipping or tearing out when cast and when it hits the water. The stretched design with double treble hooks reduces tangles during the flight phase and ensures a clean, controlled presentation at the target spot. This makes the Long Cast Rig Semi Barbed ideal for distance fishing at far-off edges, plateaus or in front of reed and weed belts.
